Community Living Month

A SHOUT OUT FOR MAY—COMMUNITY LIVING MONTH!

May is Community Living Month. It is a time to celebrate the achievements of people with an intellectual disability who shatter the myths about disability to learn, work and play in the community alongside their non-disabled citizens. Their stories are testaments to the power of a vision that respects the inherent value of each individual and holds that all members of our community can share in all elements of living in the community.

This May, in celebration of Community Living Month, we are sending SHOUT OUTS to our friends and neighbours, our sons and daughters, our brothers and sisters, who surmount challenges each day to seize upon and celebrate life’s opportunities.

SHOUT OUTS TO:

Jay who recently learned that he has been accepted into Humber College’s Travel and Tourism program.
Dimitri who was named employee-of-the-month at his workplace.
Manpreet who delivers meals to seniors.
Angela who paints with passion.
Sara who sings with passion.
Modupe who loves to play tag in the play yard with his school- mates.

Jay, Dimitri, Manpreet, Angela, Sara and Modupe, you enrich our lives and our communities.
